Can you really feel that much better being told where you'll end up? Is it really that essential to know?
Being told that I'll come back as a horse or a cow or never coming back (and going to a hot place or even a place with roads paved in gold) doesn't really affect the way I live my life. So why do we insist on having religions tell us (when they couldn't possibly know themselves) where people go to when they die?
I guess we're fickle.
I mean, it may comfort people to think that bad people are punished by a higher being, but at the risk of there being no higher being, I guess the justice system needs to be stricter after all.
