Les Projets

Hi.

Tinky.

Well, work is a bit slow right now, so I've been looking at economic news and reading a text about corporate finance lately. In my spare time, I've suddenly been overtaken by some random and apparently dormant zeal to start planning for future things, like cooking and decorating my future home. Yeah, I tore apart Martha Stewart, GourmetBon Appetit and Epicurious websites and now have a proverbial pile of dinner, dessert, lunch, bedroom, bathroom, nursery, etc. ideas taking up some of my harddrive space. I found the bedroom of my dreams, and it is seriously surprises sme how in love I am with the theme because it is blue and yellow. It is weirdly and inexplicably French et tres elegant - it has that je ne sais quoi air. I will have to post the linky once I get my hands on something over than my telefono celular. And my dream kitchen also is French. What is this? Have I been bitten by some mysterious thing that makes me suddenly fall in love with la vie francaise?? Qu'est-ce que c'est ca??

But il y a un petit peu de conflit parce-que j'aime le movement contemporary (en francais??) aussi. Well, at least some parts of it. Also, I discovered that even though the eggplant/muted yellow themes of Mediterranean influence do make me happy, and no, French Mediterranean is unacceptable to me, it doesn't suit my taste.

I think that the underlying theme of my house will have to be some sort of white and gold undertones. I have always imagined my refuge from the world (my bedroom) would feature some verde, but this bedroom's decor just melts my heart into something blue and yellow.

And I realize that most men have to have their manly section, usually the entertainment room. If I shall ever fall victim to this (which I doubt), I will demand an equivalent space for women. A room specific for teatime or something equally (horrific) feminine for entertaining my guests. It could always be my piano room. Hm.

There are so many ideas for clever and awesome bathrooms, patios, nurseries (!!), kitchens, foyers, children's bedrooms, etc. I am so in love with the idea of design. I have also been sketching floor plans, but I doubt it will happen the way I have in mind. I want the three
pairs of doors, but once you step inside, immediately you see walls featuring my art (la di da!) and all the way to the backyard. To the right will be open entries to the parlour and (oh dear....did I just include the 'u'??) library (of which I have not found a satsfactory layout in hgtv.com). To the left will be my piano/living room leading into the grand dining room. The normal dining area will be further down, overseeing the backyard. The kitchen will be enormous because I love many people in a kitchen. It's so homey, and I just love preparing things with friends. It's, simply, a magical time to me. A special bonding moment, if you will.

The basement will just be a home theater (bohemian style) and a gaming area (of course a pool table!). The upstairs will be the bedrooms and studies.

Big dreams, I know. Somehow I plan to have a cat or two (despite allergies) and a dog or two (hooray!). The mudroom/laundry room will be sequestered to the kitchen area (of course). I think a sunroom that perhaps will be my personal area will be off the kitchen. Entertainment will be so lovely!!

And I want the staircases to be marvelous - absolutely marvelous. I saw some great ideas already. I am very partial to one dining room that featured calla lilies (of course), red, white and gold. I think that something just clicked in my mind when I saw the picture. Of course, the table will have to be much larger to fit our family needs. (sigh)

Well time to call Co 7. Love you loads....sans.
